Category Review & Reclassification

At BCWAwards, our evaluation process is designed to recognise the true quality, innovation, performance and market relevance of every submitted product or brand.

If, during the preliminary review, the BCWAwards review team identifies that a submission may be better aligned with another award category, we may contact the applicant and recommend a more suitable category. This may occur when the originally selected category does not accurately reflect the submission’s strongest positioning or allow its qualities and relevance to be assessed against the most appropriate criteria.

Applicants are not required to accept the recommendation. They may retain their original category or request a category reclassification.

A category recommendation or reclassification does not guarantee Winner status, selection, ranking or any other specific result, nor does it influence the independence or impartiality of the evaluation process. It simply allows the submission to be assessed in a category where its qualities, innovation, performance and market relevance can be evaluated more appropriately.

Category reclassification is subject to an additional review and administration fee equal to 50% of the original nomination fee.

For example, if the original nomination fee was £310, the category reclassification fee would be £155.

This option is intended to support fair, accurate and professional category alignment, helping to ensure that strong products and brands are not disadvantaged solely because they were originally submitted under a less suitable category.

Tips for a Stronger Submission

• Choose the Right Award Programme – Decide whether Product Excellence Awards or Brand Excellence Awards best fit your entry.
• Select the Most Relevant Sector – Choose the sector that best reflects your product, brand, service, technology or innovation.
• Choose the Right Recognition Level – Review the Crystal and Diamond Award Levels page before selecting the most suitable distinction for your submission.
• Highlight Your Uniqueness – Clearly communicate what makes your product, brand or innovation stand out.
• Prepare High-Quality Visuals – Use professional images that showcase your product, brand, service or technology.
• Craft a Compelling Story – Share the innovation, purpose and values behind your submission.
• Support the Evaluation Process – Provide clear documents, visuals and evidence to assist the independent international jury.
• Review Previous Winners – Explore past winners for inspiration, category alignment and positioning.
