We are proud to welcome Prof. Zafar Adeel – a global voice in water security and sustainable innovation – to the BCWA Jury Panel.

Prof. Zafar Adeel is an internationally recognised expert in environmental science, water policy, and sustainable development, with over 25 years of experience — including 18 years in senior roles at the United Nations.

He served as Director of UNU-INWEH, the UN’s water think tank, and chaired UN-Water, a platform of nearly 60 UN agencies and global partners. He also co-chaired the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment that produced the global desertification synthesis in 2005.

His work focuses on the intersection of water security, technological innovation, and community engagement — advancing science-driven solutions to global water challenges.
